Based on the 2020 Five Domains Model, the Mellorater animal welfare monitoring app has been developed for use in all species of animals living in captive or managed environments, to help their guardians monitor and enhance their animal's welfare and lived experience.

Our Mission

The Mellorater's mission is to provide you with a free monitoring app featuring an easy-to-use checklist to monitor and improve your animal’s life and welfare, help you make better management decisions, and achieve a good life for all animals.

Research

The app collects anonymous data on animals’ life-worlds under the approval of the University of New England Human Research Ethics Committee to advance animal welfare knowledge and, ultimately, to help guardians achieve a good life for their animals.

Try it!

Completing the Mellorater will prompt you to reflect on aspects of the animal’s life-world that are known to impact welfare across all the domains. Used regularly, it will reveal important trends in your animal's quality of life.
